In Japanese Shihan (pronounced: shee-hahn) means "Master Teacher." A Shihan is considered someone who has become a "Teacher of Teachers."
A person awarded the title of Shihan is a master level practitioner who holds the rank of Godan (5th Dan) Black Belt, or higher, and has completed a minimum of 20 years of rigorous and comprehensive Martial Arts training, along with other extensive continuing education courses.
